Roots & Rhythm started as a retail
record store in 1974, added a mail order operation in 1978, and are now exclusively
mail and on-line ordering. We hope that offering our services on-line via the
World Wide Web will make our products available to an even wider audience.
Many consider us the most comprehensive and knowledgeable of all the
specialty music mail order companies in the United States. Much of this is due to the
forthright reviews by knowledgeable music authorities that accompany many of the listings
in our newsletters and catalogs. Although we are in business to sell discs if we think a
recording stinks we'll tell you so.
Our company has been regularly recommended as a source in books
("All Music Guide," "Mystery Train," etc.), magazines (Time, Playboy,
U.S. News & World Report, etc.) and newspaper articles (New York Times, Philadelphia
Inquirer, Memphis Commercial Appeal, etc.).
In addition to new compact discs, cassettes and LPS, Roots & Rhythm
stocks books and videotapes.

We have access to a selection of more than 40,000 different items,
keeping our customers up to date on new releases with our regular bimonthly
newsletters and occasional extensive catalogs. In our newsletters we list many hard to
find imports (including sought-after Japanese releases) and limited edition issues. We
also plan on using our web site to highlight the newest, most exciting releases plus
special deals, sales, etc.
